Martha A. (Swyers) Jarvis
February 22, 1923 — June 6, 2010
Martha A. Jarvis, 87, Belpre, Ohio, passed away at her residence with family members at her side on June 6, 2010. She was born February 22, 1923 in Pomeroy, Ohio, daughter of the late Clint and Susan Swyers. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Little Hocking, Ohio. She was an accomplished artist having once won the Governors Award (a student of Thomas Stahl), a noted cake decorator and a master seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, snow sculpting and spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Martha is survived by her husband, Milfred Jarvis, whom she married January 20, 1948 in Ironton, Ohio; two sons, Ralph (Mary Anne) of Belpre and Larry (Judy) of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Riddle of West Virginia and Mary Watson of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by siblings Emma Mae Carr, James Smith, Dorothy Roles, Robert Swyers and Patsy Oiler.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, 1229 Neighborhood Rd, Gallipolis, Ohio, with Minister Steve Fuchs officiating. Arrangements are by the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio.
