Mary Irene (Lawson) Payne
February 28, 1922 — January 26, 2011
Mary Irene Lawson Payne, 88, Bidwell, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Abbyshire Place, Bidwell, Ohio. She was born February 28, 1922 to the late Robert and Ethel Wilson Lawson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Payne; daughter, Rita; stepson, Tommy Payne; brothers: Luster, Hollis, Howard, Nathan and Robert Jr.; and sisters, Frances, Hazel and Nora.
Mrs. Payne is survived by her sons: Robert (Shannon) Lawson, Portsmouth; Wendell (Brenda) Payne, Bidwell; Gene (Roberta) Payne, Cheshire; and Keith Payne, Bidwell. Also surviving are step-sister, Elaine (Harris) Jones, Atlanta, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was an outstanding mother and encourager of strength and hope to all who knew her. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Bidwell, where Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2011 with Rev. Gene Armstrong and Rev. Calvin Minnis, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the church Monday, 11:00-1:00 PM.
