Maxie Jarvis, 87, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Arbors of Gallipolis. He was born May 17, 1916 in Gallia County, son of the late Calvin and Elberta Spencer Jarvis. Maxie retired from the Dravo Corporation in 1982 where he had been employed as a crane operator for more than forty years. He was a member of the International Union of Operaitng Engineers #132, Charleston, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Lyndall Morris Jarvis, whom he married June 4, 1938 at Harrisburg, Ohio. Also survivng are four sons: Clyde, Gallipolis; Leroy & Betty, St. Louis, Missouri; Roger & Ginnie Rae, Rochester, New York and Ron, Lancaster, Ohio; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milfred (Martha) Jarvis, Belpre, Ohio and Howell (Marjorie) Jarvis, Gallipolis; three sisters, Permelia (Denver) Offutt, Columbus, Ohio; Genevieve (Wayne) Brown, Gallipolis and Mary (Clarence) Shupe, Denver, Colorado.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Goldie Swisher.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 8, 2003 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Rev. Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.
