Maxie Ann Maddox Oliver, 91, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Born January 5, 1935, in Chelyan, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Max and Virginia (Smith) Maddox.

A 1952 graduate of East Bank High School, from which she served as “Miss Pioneer”, she was employed by Charleston National Bank, Gallipolis Savings and Loan, and Woodland Centers, where she worked from 1976 to her retirement in 1996.

For seventy-two years, Maxie shared a life full of laughter and fun with the love of her life, Jim. Together they raised two daughters, Keith Anne and Jo Ellen. They moved to Gallipolis in 1973 and made it their home for fifty-three years.

Maxie’s faith and service defined her life. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, in which she served in many capacities. She valued her many friends in Garden Club, Mahjong and Canasta. Her friendships were the center of her life. She enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach with family and friends and enjoyed golfing with the “couples” for many years.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Keith Anne (Jeff) Ream, Shelby, Ohio and Jo Ellen (Butch) Bartko, Jamestown, North Carolina; grandchildren: Kristi (Brandon) Scheck, Allison Bartko, Carly (Chase Winters) Ream, Bret Bartko and Kathryn (Andy Meinert) Bartko. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Phyllis Oliver Cole and many precious nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by stepfather, Harry Ballard, brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Bonnie Maddox, brothers and sister by marriage, John Oliver, Ray and Mickey Willcox.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Grace Methodist Church, Gallipolis, with Rev. Ray Kane officiating. Entombment will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends and family may call at the church Saturday, 11:00 AM to the time of service.
