Maxine McHenry Skidmore, 65, Asheboro, North Carolina, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illiness. She was born September 6, 1942 in Gallia County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth Cole McHenry. A resident of High Point and vicinity since 1962, Mrs. Skidmore was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Asheboro Wire Plant and she attended Christ Gospel Baptist Church.
She was married to Paul E. Skidmore, who survives of the residence. Also surviving are a son, Marty Skidmore and wife, Carla, of Asheboro and two daughters, Lori Cooper and husband, Robbie, of Asheboro and Dottie Shaw and husband, Phil of High Point, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Katie Skidmore, Tim Shaw, Kelly Shaw and Brandon Shaw; two sisters, her twin, Nadine Clark and husband, Harold of Archdale and Jo Ann Davis and husband, Bill of Gallipolis, Ohio; three brothers, Gene McHenry and wife, Gloria of Trinity, Russell McHenry and wife, Kyong of Waldertown and Tommy McHenry and wife, Patty of Trinity. Also surviving is a special family friend, Ed Robertson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob McHenry and a sister, Freda Mae McHenry.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00-7:30 PM at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. A second visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00-2:30 PM at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio. A Graveside service and interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis with the Rev. E. B. Atkins officiating.
Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, North Carolina and the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis are in charge of arrangements.
