Milford "Mick" Garfield Gilbert, Sr

Milford "Mick" Garfield Gilbert, Sr., 61, Cheshire, passed away July 31 2006 at his residence. Mick was born November 17, 1944 in Grundy, Virgina, son of the late William Garfield Gilbert and Pearl Thomas Gilbert. He was formerly employed by James Merry Stone Company, Rodney; Gilbert's Garage, Cheshire and Jaymar Coal Company, Cheshire.

He married Alice Morris September 8, 1963 in Gallipolis and she survives with two sons and two daughters: Milford "Mick" (Lisa) Gilbert Jr., Vinton, Ohio; Derek (Millie) Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; Karen (James) Cavender, Jackson, Ohio and Blondena (Michael) Kelley, Long Bottom, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Jakob N. Gilbert, Vinton, Ohio; Ashley N., Ethan M., Akira R., and Sydney J. Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; R. Andy Waugh and Kiersten U. Cavender, Jackson, Ohio; Sean M. Kelley, Long Bottom, Ohio and Cory M. Kelley, Gallipolis, Ohio;
four brothers and one sister: Brady (Ellen) Gilbert, Cheshire, Ohio; David (Dorothy) Gilbert, Bidwell, Ohio; Hershel Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; Keith Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio and Carolyn Spurlock, Thurman, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Connie Sue Gilbert, in 1970 and four brothers and three sisters: Gleason, Roger, Lannis, and James Homer Gilbert, Sr., Ann Vicaro, Barbara Terry, and Brenda McCombs.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday August 3, 2006 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Rick Barcus officiating. Pall Bearers include Derek and Milford "Mick" Gilbert, Jr.; James Cavender; Michael, Sean, and Cory Kelley. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio.
