Nellie Mae Russell, 97, Gallipolis, passed away Sunday November 20, 2005 at Holzer Assisted Living, Gallipolis. She retired from Holzer Medical Center in 1973 where she had been Assistant Laundry Director. Previously, she had been employed by the TNT Plant, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia. Mrs. Russell was a member of the River of Life Methodist Church, Addison, Ohio.
She was born March 11, 1908 on Lewis Road in Harrison Township, Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Lewis Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hetsel Arthur Russell, whom she married December 7, 1927 in Gallia County.
Surviving are two children: Nancy (Leonard) Rainey and Jack (Darlene) Russell, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; two grandchildren: Sherry Russell (James) Taylor, Columbus, Ohio and Paula (Joshua) DeWeese, Atlanta, Georgia; special granddaughter, Diana (Ken) Beaton, Shelbyville, Kentucky; eight great-grandchildren: Justin Russell Griffin, San Francisco, California; Travis Russell Taylor, Columbus, Ohio; Kara (John) Allen, Katie (Ben) Adkins, Adam Paul Rainey, Stephanie Beaton and Rob Beaton, all of Louisville, Kentucky; Jackson DeWeese, Atlanta, Georgia; three great-great grandchildren: Jacob Allen, and Maxwell and Elliott Adkins, Louisville, many nieces and nephews; and Special Friend, Linda Martin, Gallipolis.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Lowell, Wayne, Homer and Vern Harrison and four sisters: Thelma Richards, Delma Beaver, Opal Curry and Geneva Harrison; and two grandchildren: Joy Russell and Paul Rainey.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday with Rev. Larry Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery, Addison Twp., Ohio. Friends may call Tuesday, November 22 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis.
