Nellie (Davis) Young

Nellie Young, 94, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. The daughter of the late Ed and Lillie (Dotson) Davis, Nellie was born August 2, 1920 in Bidwell, Ohio and she attended Paint Creek Baptist Church.
Nellie is survived by seven children: Althea Howard, Gallipolis; Peggy (Lee) Combs, Rutland, Ohio; Patty (Robert) Armstrong, Crown City, Ohio; Marica (David) Stroud, Bidwell; Freddie (Judy) Howard, Bidwell; Edward (Winnie) Howard and Charles (Yolanda) Howard, both of Gallipolis; sister, Sarah Lay, Columbus, Ohio as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands, James O. Howard and Chester M. Young; son, James A. Howard; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Triedstone Baptist Church, Gallipolis with Rev. Melvin O. Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends and family may call at the church Wednesday 12:00 Noon to the time of service.
