Neva D. Metz, 83, Wilkesville, passed away Wednesday December 24, 2008 at the O'Bleness Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born October 12, 1925 in Glouster, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Bridget Shifflet. Neva graduated from Wilton High School in 1944 and attended the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church. She was also active in the 4-H for 20 years. In addition, she was a member of the Python Sisters, The American Legion Auxiliary, and the Albany Grange 1611.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert "Bob" Lynn Metz, January 18, 1995. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Surviving are four children: Judy Helton, Mary (David) Kearney, Robert (Dolores) Metz, and John (Elva) Metz, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, four step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, two step great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Shifflet and Julie (Billy) Simmonds, and one brother, James (Peggy) Shifflet.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Monday December 29, 2008 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Rev. Jim Snyder officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday December 28, from 4:00-6:00 PM.
