Newton I. Jones Sr., 71, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born in Gallia County March 3, 1940, son of Geraldine Jones Phillips, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia and the late Othniel Jones. A 1959 Gallia Academy High School graduate, Newt was a managing partner for the Quail Creek Mobile Home Community. Previously he had served as Manager for Bob Evans Restaurant, The Jones Boys, and Western Pancake House. He also taught Food Service at Jackson Manpower and Buckeye Hills Career Center, Rio Grande.

He had coached Rio Grande Little League Baseball and Basketball, Gallipolis Midget League Football, and was a former member of Gallia Academy Athletic Boosters. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Gallipolis and attended Fellowship of Faith, Rio Grande. Other memberships included: Centerville F&AM Lodge #371, Aladdin Shrine, Valley of Columbus, Scottish Rite, Gallipolis Shrine Club, and Gallia County Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patty Rollins Jones, whom he married in 1963; children, Newton I. Jones, Jr., Gallipolis and Jodi Rae (Christopher) Plymale, Liberty Township, Ohio; grandchildren: Nicholas M. Plymale, Megan Rae Plymale and Briar Ford Jones; step-grandchildren: Tiara Burnett and Justin Lambert; two great-grandchildren; and four brothers: Thomas I. (Loretta) Jones, Jackson, Ohio; Daniel I. (Carol) Jones, Pt. Pleasant; John I. (Judy) Jones, Gallipolis and Edward I. (Sandi) Jones, Dublin, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by three infant children; a nephew, Daniel I. Jones, Jr. and great-nephew, Joshua M. Jones; and Father and Mother-in-law, Walter and Mary Rollins.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Greg Scott, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call at the funeral home 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
