Nora Lucille (Powell) Tawney

Nora Lucille Tawney, 98, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004 in Holzer Senior Care, Bidwell. She was born March 25, 1905 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late George and Blanche Price Powell. She was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church, Gallipolis, where she had served as a member of the choir, had taught a Sunday School Class, served as President of Youth Church and had been a part time pianist for Sunday School.
Lucille married Earl S. Tawney November 1, 1924 and he preceded her in death November 2, 1994. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Powell, one niece and one nephew.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2004, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, with Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 5:00-8:00 PM.
