Ora Elizabeth Hoffman, 89, Wilkesville, passed away Monday December 19, 2005 at Holzer Medical Center. She was born May 21, 1916 in Nebo, Calhoun County, West Virginia, to the late Thomas M. and Mary Rebecca Cooper Metheney. Ora was married to the late Raymond G. Hoffman on September 7, 1949 in the home of and by the Rev. Novel Russell. Raymond preceded her in death on September 7, 1993. She was a housewife and helped her husband on the farm. She also took care of the paperwork during their time of selling fertilizer and seed corn. She took care of a lot of children as well. She received her diploma from Wilkesville High School on April 18, 1935 after attending grade school in Nebo, West Virginia and Fairplay School in Meigs County.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Callie, Emma Florine and Laura Mae and four brothers: Homer, Delbert, Charles and Eister.
She is survived by a brother, Donald (Shirley) Metheney, Vinton, Ohio. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Orie very much.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2005 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with the Rev. Victor Roush officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Center Cemetery in Meigs County. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00-9:00 PM Wednesday December 21, 2005.
