Ora (McCoy) Smith, 88, Decatur, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 in Lincoln Manor Nursing Home. Ora was born April 5, 1920 in Stacy, Virginia, daughter of Robert and Maudie (Ward) McCoy. She was a member of Morningside Chapel Church of Christ. She married Monte Smith January 1, 1938 in Edo, Kentucky, who preceded her in death January 23, 1985.
Surviving are her son, Paul E. Smith and wife Dorothy "Dottie" of Decatur; daughter, Patricia Ann and husband Jerry E. Osborn of Decatur; grandchildren, David S. Smith and wife Julie; Craig R. Smith and wife Michelle; Shelia Dawn Hunter; Christopher and Crystal Casto; and Amanda McPherson; great-grandchildren, Stephanie R. Edgecombe and husband Justin; Lindsay D., Tyler A., Brenna, and Conner A. Smith; Adam Hamm; Katiely and Ryan Hunter; Christian R. Casto; great-great-grandchild, Meade Gareth Edgecombe; brother, Earnie McCoy and wife Myrtle, Vinton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Virginia McCoy, McAndrews, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, sister, and daughter, Novella Sue Watts.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday with Minister Paul Casebolt officiating at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, 208 Main St, Vinton. Burial will follow at Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, February 28, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
