Ottis C. Johnson, 81, Bidwell passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1922 at Ramsey Town, North Carolina, son of the late Roy and Cordellia Silvers Johnson. Ottis retired from Kiser Aluminum Corp, Ravenswood and he was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the White Oak Baptist Church.
He married Ellen Tipton August 26, 1946 at Urvin, Tennessee and she survives with eight sons and daughters-in-law: Alvin (Jewel) Johnson, Chet(Sandy) Johnson, Roy (Sandal) Johnson, Reid (Diane) Johnson, and Cirby (Glendine) Johnson, Lyne (Linda) Johnson, all of Bidwell and Tracy (Angela) Johnson, Gallipolis; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, several step grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters: Ray Johnson, Valesmill; Gay Johnson, Wilkesville; Rex (Johnnie) Silvers, Lake City, Florida; Vernon Silvers, Burnsville, North Carolina; Glessie Tipton, Lake City, Florida; Joanne Presley, Swananon, North Carolina; Birdie Owens, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hiley Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with the Rev. Carl Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 PM Monday.
