Pastor Carl Basham, 63, Bidwell, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born April 27, 1941 in Sharon, West Virginia, son of the late Bill and Etna Falin Basham. A 1959 North Gallia High School graduate, Pastor Basham was ordained into the Christian Ministry by the Enterprise Association of Regular Baptist Churches December 29, 1985 and served as pastor of Prospect Church, Bidwell, Ohio for sixteen years prior to his retirement. Carl was co-owner/operator with his wife, Susan, of the Lady Bug Floral, Bidwell until his retirement in 2003. Previously, he was employed by the Buckeye Steel Company and United McGill Corporation, Columbus, Ohio; The Bob Evans Restaurant, Gallipolis and the Pillsbury Corporation, Wellston.

He married Susan Denney October 29, 1973 at Rio Grande, Ohio and she survives with two sisters, Bessie (Mike) Floccare, Middleport, Ohio and Myrtle Jeffrey, Sharples, West Virginia; mother-in-law, Clara Ellen Denney, Bidwell, Ohio and father-in-law, Paul (Connie) Denney, Bidwell, Ohio; aunt, Lena Gallion, Dawes, West Virginia and two special pet companions, Muffin and Pepper Pup.

Preceding him in death were five brothers and three sisters: Kenneth, Gilbert, Howard, Robert and Sherman Basham; Louise Cross, Pansy Owens, and Carol Basham.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday September 19, 2004 in Prospect Baptist Church, Bidwell with Pastors Henry Ward and Eddie Mollohan officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 208 Main St, Vinton Saturday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM.
