Paul W. Evans, 69, Bidwell, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born November 13, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Wilber Gail and Elsie Bernice Black Evans. He was a Gallia Academy Class of 1961 graduate, and later inducted into the Gallia Academy Football Hall of Fame. He retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a parachute instructor; he was a member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed photography, woodworking, fishing and "handyman" chores.
He is survived by two sons: Michael Evans, Ann Arbor, Michigan and Steven Evans, Blackfork, Ohio; two sisters, Donna (Ralph) Garnes, Bidwell, Ohio and Wanda Evans, Columbus; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Deryl Evans.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2011, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Kem Evans officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
