Paul E. Skidmore, 86, of Asheboro, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was born January 30, 1938, in Gallia County, Ohio, a son of the late Okey and Naomi (Brabham) Skidmore. Paul served his country in the United States Navy and worked at Wagner Woodcraft for forty-one years.
Paul enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing the bass, guitar and singing country and gospel music. He enjoyed singing with the Powers Brothers, The Country Gospelmen, and several other gospel groups in Asheville. His true love and passion was spending time with his family - he especially liked watching wrestling on TV with his grandson. He will be remembered as a Christian man, who loved his Lord and family and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children: Marty (Diann) Skidmore, Lori (Robbie) Cooper and Dottie Shaw; grandchildren: Kaitlin Skidmore, Kelly (Dustin) Shields, Brandon Shaw, Mikie (Kari) Stewart, Bethanie Ellzey, Jordan (Samantha) Caddell and Stacy (Don) Lawrence; great-grandchildren: Aryanah Skidmore, Siyarah Hill, Dakota Shields, Adalyn Stewart, Carson Stewart, Harper Millikan, Noah Ellzey and Mason Ellzey. Also surviving are brothers, Harold Skidmore and David (Cathy) Skidmore and special friend, Jean Reiser.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Maxine McHenry Skidmore and grandson, Tim Shaw.
A Visitation was held for Paul Monday, May 20, 2024, in the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis, Ohio. Family and friends may visit the Ohio Valley Memory Garden Thursday 11:00 AM to the Noon service time. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio is in charge of local arrangements and honored to serve the Skidmore Family.
