Phyllis Jean Stewart, 90, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2026, in her loving daughter’s home following a lengthy illness. Phyllis was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, December 28, 1935, daughter of the late Lowell and Hattie (Harrington) Gothard.

An active member of the community, she held memberships in the following: Abigail Circle, Gallipolis OES #283, French City Shrinettes, Red Hat Club, Toddler to Tassels Mother’s League, Gallia Academy Alumni Association and Grace Methodist Church. Phyllis retired from 5th/3rd Bank in 2002. Phyllis was well known for her fashion sense and her love of the color - pink.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children: Tamara (Patrick) Davison, Gallipolis, Ohio, Lettie (Donald) Swyers, Columbus, Ohio and Jody (Misty) Stewart, Frankfort, Ohio; her adoring grandchildren: Amber (Brian) Epling-Skinner, Alysia (Brandon) Eger, Mariah Swyers, Mathew Swyers, Jadelyn Stewart, Wes (Michaela) Wilt , Lexee Wilt and Clay Wilt.

She was blessed with great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Annabelle, Rosalie, Henry, Adaline, Conrad and Alaina and will be missed by brother, William “Bill” (Marylynn) Gothard and sister, Karon McCormick as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by great-granddaughter, Vivienne Claire Epling, sister-in-law, Opal Payne and brothers-in-law, John Payne and Henry “Eugene” McCormick.

Funeral services are to be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, with Rev. Ray Kane officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family members may call at the funeral home Tuesday, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

In honor of Phyllis, the family requests attendees wear her favorite color, Pink, in a showing of support and love to her family members.
