Raymond Bays

Raymond Bays, 91, Patriot, Ohio passed away June 26, 2005 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Born March 7, 1914 at Lincoln County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Willie and Viola Lovejoy Bays. He married Bessie L. Green May 11, 1935 and she preceded him in death January 4, 1996. Raymond attended Gallia Baptist Church.

He is survived by four daughters: Bessie (Robert) Rice, Bidwell, Ohio; Virgie (Herbert) Bayman, Versailles, Ohio; Janice (Jerry) Spurlock, Ironton, Ohio and Linda Sue Trimble, Kerr, Ohio; five sons: Dennis Bays, Oak Hill, Ohio; Bobbie Bays, Patriot, Ohio; Ralph Bays, Piqua, Ohio; Junior Bays, Bidwell, Ohio and James Herbert Bays, Bidwell, Ohio; thirty-five grandchildren and fifty-two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jenny Short, Paris Crossing, Indiana and Juanita McKey, St. Paris, Ohio.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Goldie Spurlock; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two brothers, two step-brothers, three sisters and four step-sisters.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the Gallia Baptist Church, Dry Ridge Rd, Gallia, Ohio with Pastor Dannie Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Gallia Cemetery, Gallia, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 6:00-8:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio.
