Raymond Denver Hutchins, 89, Patriot, Ohio joined his wife, Evelyn, in Heaven Saturday, November 21, 2009. He was born in Perry Township, Gallia County, and remained a resident of Gallia County his entire life.
Raymond retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center and also worked for the Gallia County Garage and the brickyards at Blackfork. He was a former trustee of Perry Township as well as a former trustee of the Tyn Rhos Cemetery Association. He enjoyed hunting (especially fox hunting), farming, going to livestock sales every Wednesday and Saturday, and attending the horse races at the Jackson County and Meigs County Fairs. As well as attending the Gallia County fair for many years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn (McNeal), in May of 2006; both parents, William M. and Elizabeth (Evans) Hutchins; stepmother, Flora Maude (Evans) Hutchins; brother and sister-in-law, Forrest and Adrah Hutchins; sister-in-law, Leota Hutchins; a sister in infancy and a great grandson.
He is survived by daughter, M. June Hutchins, at home; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Curt Ramey, Rio Grande; Jean and Tom Meek, Gallipolis; and Adrah and Mark Neal, Patriot, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Janet Hutchins, Patriot; Ronnie and Sharon Hutchins, Gallipolis; brother, Leon Hutchins, Columbus; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Connie McNeal, Columbus; sister-in-law, Garnet "Pat" McNeal, Gallipolis; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Randy and Amy McGuire, Centerpoint and Ron Iris Jividen, Cheshire. A long and happy life has also left behind many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff on the second floor, fourth floor East and Rehab Unit on the fifth floor at Holzer Medical Center and all the caring staff at the Holzer Senior Care Center.
The family would like to request, instead of flowers, donations be made to Holzer Hospice, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631, in memory of Raymond.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00-8:00 PM Monday at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Tyn Rhos Cemetery with Pastor Robert Powell officiating.
