Richard "Eugene" Valentine

Richard "Eugene" Valentine, 57, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 24, 2024, in the Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room, Gallipolis, Ohio. Eugene was born in Gallia County, Ohio, March 14, 1967.

Eugene was an active member of the Gallia County community, currently employed as a Gallia County 911 Dispatcher since 1987. He retired from Gallipolis City School District in 2018, where he drove school bus since 1987, and was named Head School Bus Driver. He was a former Rio Grande Fire Department D4 Fire Fighter from 1987 to 1997.

He leaves behind his sons, Kody (Brianna) Roberts and Matthew (Morgan) Roberts and daughter, Beth (James) Myers; five beautiful grandchildren: Maria, Anderson, Molly, Macey and Adalynn and niece, Courtney Valentine. Eugene will be missed by life-long friends, Tim Miller and Justin Rice, as well as several friends in the law enforcement and public safety sectors who loved and respected him.

He was preceded by his brother, David Valentine.

Eugene in life was selfless and put the needs of others first, always going above and beyond for ones in need. He was not much for special attention or praise. He worked hard to protect the wellbeing of officers, paramedics and firefighters. He was a loving father and gentle soul.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, November 17, 2024, in the Gallia County Senior Center, 1167 SR 160, Gallipolis from 3:00-6:00 PM. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio is honored to serve the family.
