Robert Earl Davis 71, Gallipolis and a former resident of Vinton, passed away at his residence Tuesday, April 11, 2006 following an extended illness. He was born December 12, 1934 to the late Earl Gay Davis and Julia Elizabeth Harris in Montcoal, West Virginia. A retired coal miner, he also retired from AEP in 1990 and was a member of United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rozella Davis April 28, 1985; daughter, Mitzie Ann Davis, June 27, 1999; and brother Joeddie Davis.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Monica) Davis and Tim (Teresa) Davis, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael Johnson) Davis, Columbus, Ohio; Amanda (Larry) Gilmore, Cheshire, Ohio; Michael Davis, Kelly Davis, Kimber Davis and Steven Davis, Gallipolis, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Hunter Johnson and Makenzie Gilmore; two brothers: Richard (Marilyn) Davis, Foster, West Virginia and James (Diane) Davis, Langsville, Ohio; four sisters: Bonnie (Charles) Huffman, Foster, West Virginia; Linda (Donnie) Mantz, Sterling, Virginia; Martha (Hank) Henderson, Spotsylvania, Virginia and Patricia (Bernard) Lacy, Danville, West Virginia and special friends Martha Kasee, Gallipolis; Tammy Angel and children, Brittany Angel and Johnathan Sheppard, Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will be in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 PM.
