Ronnie Lee Lemley, 62, was called home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Monday morning March 2, 2009. He was born August 22, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Luther Bryan Lemley and Augusta Grace Lane Lemley.
He married Nancy Christine Plants March 19, 1966 in Gallia County and she survives him along with three daughters: Kristi (Harley) Eblin, Cindy (Eric) Gee, Gallipolis, Ohio and Renet (Michael) Woodard, Bluff Dale, Texas. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Caleb Stanley, Jackson, Ohio; Cheyenne, Kasey and Ian Eblin, Chloe and Sophia Gee, all of Gallipolis, Ohio; and Colby, Taylor and Jacob Woodard, Bluff Dale Texas. He is also survived by a host of friends, relatives and loved ones.
Ronnie was a life long resident of Gallia County. He had served as Marshall for the Village of Cheshire and as a Deputy for the Gallia County Sheriff's Department. He retired in 2001 after 27 years in law enforcement from the Gallipolis Developmental Center, where he was a police officer. Ronnie was blessed with a gift for singing and playing piano and many other instruments, which he used to sing praises to the Lord and witness for God. He was a member of the Poplar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and had served as Pastor of the Harris Baptist Church at Harrisburg for twenty-five years. He was currently attending River of Life United Methodist Church in Addison. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member and past Master of the Vinton F& AM Lodge 131.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Thursday March 5, 2009 in the Poplar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, near Addison, with Rev. Calvin Minnis and Pastor Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Wednesday 4:00-8:00 PM. Masonic services will be conducted 7:45 PM Wednesday at the funeral home by Vinton F & AM Lodge 131. Ronnie's grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
