Ruth Olwyn Jones

Ruth O. Jones, 85, Thurman, Ohio passed away July 4, 2018 at Jenkins Memorial Care Facility, Wellston, Ohio. She was the daughter of Maurice and Bernice (Davis) Jones, born January 5, 1933 in Monroeville, Ohio. Ruth was employed by the former Ohio Bell Company for thirty-two years where she was an operator. She was a member of Simpson Chapel Methodist Church, Rio Grande, Ohio; Thurman Grange #1416, Thurman, Ohio; Atwood Club, Rio Grande and Telephone Pioneers of America. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening and she was an avid fan and supporter of the Rio Grande Women's Basketball Team.

She is survived by two sisters: Betty Jones Rees, Gallipolis, Ohio and Dorothy Cochrane, Volcano, California; long-time family and special friend, Phyllis Michael and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Canaday and Wilda Mae Harris; brothers-in-law, Marshall Canaday, Claude Harris and David Rees.

In accordance with Ruth's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Memorial Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the Calvary Cemetery, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Dan Lamphier officiating.
