Savannah Lynnea McCarley, 2, earned her angel wings Thursday August 23, 2012 at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was held tightly in her Mommy's arms and surrounded by her Daddy and big brother, family members, and friends.
Savannah was born March 5, 2010 and while she lived a brief two and a half years, her life was packed with promise and purpose. Generous and compassionate, Savannah lived to love those around her. From the moment she could sit up, Savannah loved to dance. She liked to paint and color, recite poems, and read books. Some of her favorite authors were Margaret Wise Brown, Eric Carle, and Bill Martin Jr. She enjoyed the outdoors, swimming and playing, or just walking in the park. Her favorite color was purple. You could often find Savannah wearing her favorite rubber boots, sunglasses, rings, and necklaces or trying on her mommy's shoes. In the days before she passed away, Savannah went to the fair and got her ears pierced, two things that made her very happy. She was tough but sweet, shy yet outgoing, and this world is a better place because she was in it. Savannah will live on in the gift of life she shared as an organ donor and more than 50 people will have a second chance at life because of Savannah.
Cherishing her life and memory are her Mommy and Daddy, Kayla George and Ryan McCarley; her brother Jarret McCarley; fraternal grandparents Bob and Diana McCarley, whom she lovingly called Gram Z and Pap; maternal grandparents Rick and Faith George, lovingly called Grandpa G and Granny Faith; as well as Robin and George Armstead, whom she referred to as Mam-Mam and Poppa George.
She is survived by her aunts and uncles Josh and Summer McCarley, Kyle and Marisa McCarley, and Devin George and her Great Grandparents Mary Ann McCarley (Granny), Hulda Hendrick (Grand), Avanell George (Grandma George), and Cletus and Nan Harder (Grandpa Clete, Granny Nanny). She is also survived by many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Savannah is preceded in death by her Great Grandfathers Lowell McCarley, Estil Gillman, Fred George and her Great Uncles Ray Gillman, Gary George, and Randy George.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Thursday August 30, 2012 at the Vinton Baptist Church, 11818 State Route 160, Vinton, OH 45686. The funeral will be held at the church at 11 AM Friday, August 31, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton.
