Shirley Mae (Collins) Smith

Shirley Mae Smith, 78, Vincent, Ohio (formerly of Bidwell, Ohio) passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 in her home following a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Shird and Sissie (Slone) Collins, she was born April 26, 1945 in Gilbert, West Virginia. Shirley was a member of Rutland Free Will Baptist Church who married Ishmael Smith April 26, 1961 in Lebanon, Virginia, who survives.

To this union were born four children: Ishmael Jeffery (Tonya) Smith, Union Hall, Virginia; Brenda (Randy) Valentine, Vincent, Ohio; Linda (Donald) Edmonds, Pliny, West Virginia and Cindy (Shawn) Lambert, Langsville, Ohio. Also missing Shirley are grandchildren: Ishmael Jeremiah Smith, Philip Smith, Jessica Edmonds, Jonathan Edmonds, Justin Edmonds, Josh Valentine, Felishia Valentine, Meghan Lambert, Clinton Lambert, Taylor Smith and Scott Smith; numerous great-grandchildren as well as brothers Luther Collins and Junior Hatfield Collins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by brothers J.B. Shird Collins, Wendell Collins, Arnold Collins and sisters Betty Haney, Erma Williams, Myrtle Schultz and Lucille Cannon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Junior Preston officiating. Entombment will follow in Meigs Memory Gardens, Pomeroy, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 11:00 AM until the service time of Noon.
