Shirley May Parsley, 75, Lancaster, Ohio passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 in Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio. Born July 24, 1941 in Mingo County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Julia (Runyon) Marcum. Shirley's family moved to Wilkesville, Ohio in 1947 where Shirley lived most of her life, including after she marriage to Howard Parsley on August 26, 1961 and they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this month. Howard preceded Shirley in death on August 2, 2016; they lived a wonderful life and remained by each other's side until the end. Shirley joined the Old Regular Baptist Church in January of 1974 remaining a lifelong member at the Little Angel Church in Groveport, Ohio. Shirley was a homemaker her whole life who enjoyed her family very much, especially when they visited. She loved going to church and the fellowship with the brothers and sisters.
To this union five children were born: Jeffrey (Cindy) Parsley, New Salem, Ohio; Dennis (Jeanne) Parsley, Pataskala, Ohio; Kevin (Gail) Parsley, Williamsport, Ohio; Angel (Colin) Cline, Pleasantville, Ohio and Brigett (Doug) Dye, Lancaster, Ohio; five grandchildren: Candace Parsley, Jason (Abbey) Parsley, Shyanne Cline, Tabitha Dye and Keala Cline; four great-grandchildren: Ava Mae, Graham Weston, Cash James, Draven Michael and three sisters: Lucy Maynard, Wilkesville, Ohio; Ernestine Clay, Albany, Ohio and Eva Lou (Don) Lawson, Pleasantville, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Edith Newsome, John Marcum, Fanny Maynard, Olive Newsome, Opal Metheny and William Marcum.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 208 Main Street, Vinton, Ohio. Burial will follow in Marcum Memorial Cemetery, Vinton. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Tuesday 11:00 AM to the time of service.
