Stella May (Lucas) Dummitt
November 20, 1912 — September 7, 2005
Stella May Dummitt, 92, Joppa, Illinois (formerly of Rio Grande) entered eternal rest September 7, 2005 at her residence. She was born November 20, 1912 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Chapman and Minnie Dempsey Lucas. A member of Thurman United Methodist Church, she married James R. Dummitt Sr. February 14, 1931 in St. Albans, West Virginia and he preceded her May 8, 1988.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter: James R. (Eula) Dummitt Jr., Rio Grande, Ohio; Mary Potter, Raceland, Kentucky; John Dummitt, Joppa, Illinois; William Dummitt, Joppa, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Betty Dummitt, (widow of Joseph Dummitt), Joppa, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Dummitt, August 6, 2005; one son-in-law, Ronnie Potter; four brothers: Leslie, Rhenest, Tracy and Ermel Lucas.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the First Christian Church, Rio Grande, Ohio with burial following at Tyn Rhos Cemetery in Thurman, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, 208 Main St, Vinton, Ohio.
