Sydney Paul Harless, 90, Vinton, Ohio passed away April 14, 2014 at his home on Alice Road surrounded by his family. Born August 11, 1923 at Winchester, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Hamilton and Anna (Pauley) Harless. A self-employed life-long farmer, he was also an active Christian member of the Church of Christ, Wilkesville; a World War II Army veteran and a member of Meigs County Farm Bureau.
Sydney is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Frances (Jacks) Harless, whom he married October 9, 1945; four sons: Robert (Cary) Harless, Vinton, Ohio; Raymond (Pamela) Harless, Ft. Pierce, Florida; James (Berdie) Harless, Vinton, Ohio and Danny (Frances) Harless, Jacobsburg, Ohio; ten grandchildren: Christy, Steven, Jennifer, Timothy, Jerime, Michelle, Stella, Jamie, Kelly and Daniel; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Sydney was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Brother Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Wednesday 5:00-8:00 PM.
