Thelma Mae Barnes Murray, 88, Bidwell, Ohio (formerly of the Vinton Community) passed away February 24, 2010 at Holzer Senior Care, Bidwell. Thelma was born March 12, 1921 in Jackson County, Ohio, to the late George and Lurana Dupre Woodruff. She was a retired employee of the US Postal Service, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bidwell; member of the Order of Eastern Star #375, Vinton; American Legion Post #161 Ladies Auxiliary, Vinton and the Huntington Grange.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Maxwell G. Barnes and Arvil Murray; brothers, Charles and Willard Woodruff; two step-sons, Lonnie and Don Murray; and special friend, Marietta Reynolds.

Surviving are two children: Shirley (John C.) Smith, Thurman, Ohio and Jerry (Connie) Barnes, Gallipolis, Ohio; two step-children: Cecil (Patty) Murray and Arvil (Patricia) Murray Jr., both of Waverly, Ohio; three grandchildren: Melinda (Chad) Conard, and Alan (Annette) Smith, both of Thurman; Chris (Meagan) Barnes, Gallipolis; great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Joey) Loomis, Jessica (Nick) Roberts, Adam Smith, all of Thurman and Nicholas Barnes, Gallipolis; great-great-grandchild, Kylie Plantz, Thurman; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Woodruff, Zanesville, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, John (Jeree) Barnes, Centerville, Mississippi and Jesse (Sadie) Barnes of Michigan; step-great-grandchildren, Nathan Conard, Cierra Roberts, and Tyler Roberts, all of Thurman; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday February 27, 2010 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
