Thomas J. "TJ" Weddington, 79, Vinton, passed away at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio, Thursday, February 11, 2010. He was born May 9, 1930 in Stone, Kentucky, son of the late Okey and Vernie Kinser Weddington.

Thomas attended Harris Baptist Church and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Union Local #1857. He retired from Southern Ohio Coal after more than 20 years of employment. Thomas was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Thomas married Ruby Jean May on July 16, 1954 in Williamson, West Virginia and she survives him with one son, Thomas Keith of Vinton; one daughter, Verna Kay (John) Denney of Bidwell; grandchildren, Marie Denney of Bidwell, Jared (Lauren) Denney of Circleville, Ohio, Mandy (Matt) Eversole of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one nephew, Tim (Mary) Gormican of Dayton, Ohio; and two nieces, Libby Gormican of Dayton, Ohio, and Amy Gormican of Port St. Lucia, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Weddington and Honey Lou Gormican.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM, February 14, 2010 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Chester Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Denney Family Cemetery, Bidwell with full military graveside rites conducted by Vinton American Legion Post #161. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 5:00-9:00 PM.
