Velma Rae (Spencer) Coleman

Velma Rae Coleman, 85, of Bidwell, Ohio passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Drift, Kentucky, March 9, 1940, daughter of the late Lee and Nannie (Ward) Spencer. She married James Coleman May 17, 1957, who preceded her in death August 2, 2000. Velma retired from Reliance Electric, Gallipolis, Ohio and attended Community Christian Fellowship Church, Thurman, Ohio.

To this union their children were born: Jennifer (Mike) Dalton and Jewell (Odell) Williams, both of Bidwell, Ohio; Kimmi (Larry) Lee, Vinton, Ohio and James (Jodi) Coleman, Bidwell, Ohio. Also surviving is honorary daughter, Shonda Hicks, Bidwell; grandchildren: Jay (Crystal) McGuire, Vinton, Ohio; Jessica (Donnie) Barnes, Pilot Mount, North Carolina; Ashley (Matt) Shinkle, Lancaster, Ohio; Austin Roush, Bidwell; Adam (Andrea) Lee, Gallipolis, Ohio; Cody (Jordan) Lee, Conway, South Carolina; Braydon (Tiffany) Coleman, McArthur, Ohio; Abigail Coleman, Grove City, Ohio; Grace Coleman, Bidwell and Wade Hicks, Bidwell.

Those left behind as well are great-grandchildren: Ethan McGuire, Donnie Barnes, Jr., Luke Barnes, Olivia Coleman, Wrenly Shinkle, Lexus Lee, Jayla Preston and James Barnes; brother, Daniel (Ruth) Spencer, Wellston, Ohio; sister, Lavonda Becker, Graham, Washington; special niece, Sue Tabor; special friends, Arlene Houston, Roberta Clark, Janet Oiler, Kay Isaac, Lynn Saxon and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

The family would like to extend special Thanks to Heartland Hospice and caregiver, Amanda Trapp.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Dale Geiser officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 5:00-7:00 PM.
