Verta Grace (Rece) Casto

Verta Grace Rece Casto, 92, Vinton, Ohio passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in Holzer Senior Care Facility, Bidwell, Ohio. Born September 4, 1929 in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Harvey and Kathryn (Wysong) Rece.

Verta moved to Vinton in the late 1930's where she met and married James A. Casto February 25, 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky. She opened the local drug store in Vinton and worked on the Casto Family Farm. An avid reader, she was a Charter Member of the Books and Friends Book Club, Vinton Chapter. She attended the Porter Methodist Church until her health prevented her attendance.

She was unable to have children of her own, so she was very close to all her nieces, nephews and cousins knowing all their names, and their children's names. She and Jimmy loved them dearly. She was an avid pet and animal person, having many of each throughout the years.

Verta is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 93. She also was preceded by her brothers and sister: William Rece, Mary Virginia Myers, Thomas Rece, Ralph Rece and James Rece.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Friday, November 5, 2021 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Pastor Dan Lamphier officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday 11:00 to the service hour of Noon.
