Virgil Ward

Virgil Ward, 63, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Wednesday August 27, 2014 in the Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room, Gallipolis. Born April 28, 1951 at Pikeville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Drewie and Jettie (Slone) Ward. He was a self-employed carpenter.

Virgil is survived by his children, Valerie (Jay) Pate, Barboursville, West Virginia and Jason Travis Ward, Gallipolis; grandson, Tyler Burnett, Barboursville; brothers: Emsie Ward, Groveport, Ohio; Garland (Ezell) Ward and James Ward, both of Vinton, Ohio; sisters: Mae Robinson, Akron, Ohio; Erma Jean (James) Charles, Obetz, Ohio; Yvonnia Ward, Tennessee; Geraldine (Lee Roy) Hunt, Bidwell, Ohio; Rosettia (Henry) Cox, Tennessee and Pauline Ward, Gallipolis; sister-in-law, Eunice Ward, Kimper, Kentucky and companion and best friend, Karen Barber, Gallipolis.

In addition to his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by son, Kenny Alan Ward; brothers Ercel, Homer, Robert and Ezert Ward and sister, Louise Ward.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2014 in the Community Funeral Home, 4902 Zebulon Highway, Pikeville, Kentucky. Friends and family may call at the funeral home 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery, Meta, Kentucky.
