Virginia E. (Scott) Garnes
January 28, 1921 — April 27, 2014
Virginia E. Scott Garnes, 93, Vinton, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on April 27, 2014 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1921 in Gallia County, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Mattie Pounds Scott. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert C. Garnes. She was a member of Morgan Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served her Lord in numerous capacities and she retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center in January, 1981 where she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 15 years.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Martha (Anthony) Woodfork, Chillicothe, Ohio and sons: John (Kathy) Garnes, Bidwell, Ohio; Charles Garnes, Vinton, Ohio and Dr. Frank (Joyce) Garnes, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Additional surviving relatives include a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Guy Garnes; step-son, Douglas Hutchinson; brother, John Pounds and sister, Anna Mae Morgan.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 3 at the Apostolic Church, Vale Road, Bidwell, Ohio with Reverend Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Bethel Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio.
