Virginia Phyllis (Taylor) Thoma

V irginia Phyllis Thoma, 94 of Centerburg, Ohio passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Country Club Retirement Campus, Mt. Vernon, Ohio.  She was born November 19, 1927 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Fonzo and Thelma (Halfhill) Taylor. Virginia attended Poplar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio. She married John Dickerson Thoma October 8, 1947 in Greenup, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2012.

Virginia is survived by a daughter, Sally (Ben) Smith of Howard, Ohio, sons, Johnny (Mary) Thoma of Marysville, Ohio and Albert (Barbara) Thoma of Centerburg, Ohio.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Tyler (Beth) Smith, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Liberty Thoma, Scottsdale, Arizona, Chris (Nicole) Thoma, Marysville, Ohio, John Paul Thoma, Scottsdale, Arizona; three great-grandchildren:  Madison and Chloe Smith and Allie Thoma; sister Juanita Balnoschan, Hilliard, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Brown, Florence Fletcher and Dorothy Arrington and brothers, Carl and Leroy Taylor.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, January 13, 2022 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Ben Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Masks are recommended during the funeral and visitation.
