Virginia Gay Harrison, 91, Gallipolis, Ohio joined her husband, Lawrence, in their Heavenly home Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy. She was born December 19, 1914 in Gallipolis, daughter of the late Lon H. Woolweaver and Lucy Johnson Woolweaver. She was reared in Huntington, West Virginia and a graduate of Huntington High School. After returning to Gallipolis, she married Lawrence Harrison, July 26, 1942. They moved to Athens during the 1950's where she was an aide at the Athens State Hospital. Soon after, they were blessed with Kathy, their only child. She and Lawrence returned to Gallipolis in 1990 and he preceded her in death, March 20, 2006.
Mrs. Harrison was a member of the Kenney Memorial Wesleyan Church, Athens, where she taught Sunday School for many years and attended the First Church of the Nazarene Church, Gallipolis.
Surviving are daughter, Kathy (Mike) Brown, Williamstown, West Virginia; two grandsons: Ryan N. Brown and Michael Corey (Fiancee Michele Geissler) Brown; great-grandson, Konnor G. Brown and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie M. Woolweaver.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with Rev. Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 12:00-2:00 PM.
