Wayne Austin Mcculty

Wayne A. McCulty, 88, formerly of Gallia County and Columbus, Ohio, passed away in Clearwater, Florida Wednesday, December 23, 2015.  He was born June 24, 1927 in Springfield Township, Ohio, son of the late Ted Austin and Marie Denney McCulty.  He is survived by his wife Thelma Jean Grant McCulty of Columbus, Ohio.  He was a World War II United States Army Veteran, received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University, and was instrumental in the design of many products while employed by various companies and later as a freelance engineer.  He learned engineering software and continued designing into his late 70's.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by a son, Richard (Jo) McCulty, Columbus, Ohio; daughters: Judy (Ted) Bernard, Silver Springs, Florida and Laura (Michael) McCulty Stepp, Silver Spring, Maryland; grandchildren:  Dion Taylor, Grant Taylor, Jessey Taylor, and Elena Stepp;  great-granddaughter, Abby Taylor; sister, Lois Stout, Bidwell, Ohio; sister-in-law, Judy McCulty, Gallipolis, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and several extended family members.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Gene McCulty and Bill McCulty.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Vinton Memorial Park with Pastor Heath Jenkins officiating. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday.
