Wendell Ray Brown, 85, Wilkesville Community, passed away at Jenkins Care Community Sunday, August 3, 2014. He was born July 17, 1929 in Wilkesville, Ohio, to the late Roy Denver Brown and Sylvia Esta Jones Brown. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a retired steelworker of Kaiser Aluminum for more than 23 years; he was a 35 year member of Orphans Friend F&AM Lodge #275, Wilkesville and a lifetime member of Joseph Freeman American Legion Post #476 of Wilkesville.
Wendell is survived by a son, Roy Charles (Rita) Brown; step-daughter, Brenda "Sis" Vickers and step-son, Mike L. (Ann) Johnson, all of Wilkesville, Ohio; brothers: Paul Leroy Brown, Jackson, Ohio; David Milton (Oeida) Brown, Onsted, Michigan and Samuel Cleon (Ilene) Brown, Swartz Creek, Michigan; sister, Laura Mae Steele, Tampa Bay, Florida; one grandchild, Donella Jean Brown, Delaware, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Billie Jean Stewart Brown, whom he married in Wilkesville, Ohio in 1950 and wife, Reva Mollohan Johnson, whom he married in 2001; brother, Herbert Alvin Brown and sister, Arlene Choate.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Deacon Bob Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park with full Military Graveside Rites. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4:00-7:00 PM. Masonic Services will be conducted at the funeral home 7:00 PM Wednesday by Orphans Friends F&AM Lodge #275 of Wilkesville.
