William Earl Cray, Sr.
March 19, 1921 — January 9, 2009
William Earl Cray Sr. 87, Langsville, (Wilkesville Community), Ohio passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 in Holzer Medical Center, Jackson. He was born March 19, 1921 in Athens County, Ohio son of the late James Harrison Cray and Lena Mae Cray. He retired from the Frick Gallagher Manufacturing Company, Wellston following thirty-five years service and was also a self employed dairy farmer. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Albany VFW Post and the Joseph Freeman American Legion Post 476, Wilkesville. In addition he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkesville; Star Grange, Dexter; Wilkesville F&AM Orphans Friend Lodge 207; and the WiIkesville Chapter OES 444.
Earl is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Dorothy A. Cray, and two children: William E. "Bill" Cray Jr., Wilkesville, Ohio and Jennifer L. (Frank) Pope, Allentown, Pennsylvannia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Dale Cray.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Rev. Jim Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Wellston American Legion Post 371. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 5:00-8:00 PM.
