William E. McCoy, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Holzer Assisted Living Facility, Gallipolis, Ohio. Bill was born May 6, 1930, in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Millard and Gladys (Pickens) McCoy. A United States Air Force Veteran, Bill retired from AEP Gavin Plant January 1, 1994, following over thirty years of service. During that time, he also was employed by OVEC and Kyger Creek Power Plant for fourteen years.
Bill was a member of Southern A Model A Club, Gallipolis VFW Post 4464 and Calvary Baptist Church, Rio Grande, Ohio. He married Alva Lambert McCoy February 8, 1995, in Crescent City, Florida, and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters: Christine (Wayne) Bruner, Augusta, Georgia and Dr. Kathleen (Bob Medve) McCoy, Queensbury, New York; grandchildren: Nathaniel (Aubrey) Bruner, Augusta, Georgia; Matthew Bruner, Polson, Montana and Elizabeth Medve, Queensbury, New York; stepson, Jim (Susan) Pennington, Upper Arlington, Ohio; four step grandchildren; one great grandson, Bastion Bruner, four step great grandchildren and six step great great grandchildren as well as stepdaughter-in-law, Tori Pennington, Lancaster, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by stepson, John Samuel Pennington and sister, Pauline Koran.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Vinton Rankin officiating. Full Military Graveside Rites will be performed by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail at the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Rio Grande, Ohio following the service. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 11:00 AM to the Noon service time.
