Reverend William Lewis Uber, 88, Gallipolis, Ohio (Cheshire Community), passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson. He was born July 21, 1921 in Brownsville, Oregon, son of the late William L. and Edna Hall Uber. He was a World War II US Army veteran, a graduate of the University of Southern California, a missionary for American Sunday School Union, served as minister at Cheshire Baptist Church, and after retirement, served as Minister at Large in many American Baptist Churches. He was preceded in death by his wife Olivelle Beers on March 18, 2010 and a sister, Melba Egner.
William is survived by three daughters: Frances (Allen) McCoy, Dayton, Ohio; Shirley (James) Walker, Wellston, Ohio; and Katy Uber, Gallipolis, Ohio; five grandsons: James Walker, Belpre, Ohio; Chad Walker, Jackson, Ohio; Brian Walker, Cincinnati, Ohio; and John Thacker and Steve Thacker, both of Dayton Ohio; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, with Pastor Steve Little officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
