Wilma L. (Hale) Marcum

Wilma L. (Hale) Marcum, age 77, of Vinton, Ohio, left this earth for her reward on Sunday, June 9, 2024, after a lengthy health battle.

Born in West Prestonsburg, Kentucky November 9, 1946 to her parents, Paul Raymond Hale and Annette Steele Powell, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Paul Hale Jr. (KY), a sister, Sharon Smith (MI), and a daughter-in-law, Carla Taylor (OH).

Our precious mother is survived by her sister, Jan Taylor of Ypsilanti, Michigan; her daughter, Moneka Pepper Pope and Eddie Clagg of Vinton, Ohio; four sons, Terry and Danielle Hale of Oak Hill, Ohio, George and Alicia Taylor of Vinton, Ohio, Kevin Taylor of Vinton, Ohio and Raymond Ray and Debbie Pope of Vinton, Ohio; and two step-children she loved and helped raise, Archie and Ora Mae Marcum. She loved her family with all her heart and leaves behind a great legacy of loved ones: 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews with whom she had a special bond. It would be impossible to name each and every one of those she loved within the family network, all of whom were special to her. She will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her.

Her life was filled with adventure, and she was full of spunk. She raised a family and was a homemaker, tending gardens of vegetables and canning for the winter months. She was an amazing cook and always tried to make the holidays special with her meals. Everyone loved her fried chicken, slaw and cornbread; she had that special touch and always made the best of what she had. She became a nurse in 1974 and worked at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis, Ohio, for a time.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2024, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Reverend Terry Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Brush Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Family and friends may call on the family beginning at 11:00 A.M., till the time of service.
