Zigmund Thomashunis, 66, Vinton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was born January 24, 1945, in Exeter, Pennsylvania. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who had served twenty-one years during which time he had served as a Medic in Vietnam as well as in other health care service areas.
He married Melonie Smith December 23, 1998 in Brooksville, Florida who survives. Also surviving are seven children: Ziggy Thomashunis, Pennsylvania;
Ruthanne Sponsa, Mike Thomashunis, Bruce Thomashunis, Chris Thomashunis, Matthew Thomashunis, and Cassie Thomashunis all of Florida; two step-children, Tami Mann, West Virginia and Kirk Blythe, Virginia; eight grandchildren; one brother, Chuck Thomashunis, Pennsylvania and one sister, Anne Thomashunis, also of Pennsylvania and a special family member, Marianne.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 208 Main St, Vinton, Ohio. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post #161. Cremation will follow. Friends may call on at the funeral home Thursday 5:00-7:00 PM.
