Anna "Margaret" (Jeffers) Pope

Anna Margaret Pope, 103, Patriot, Ohio died peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born January 14, 1919 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Ida Cora (Burnett) Jeffers.

She was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church, Patriot, Ohio and an avid reader, especially The Holy Bible. She was a farmer’s wife for eighty years, a hard-working woman who enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and raising gardens and beef cattle.

Margaret married her loving husband, Paul Gerald Pope, June 12, 1942 in Essex, Maryland, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years before his passing October 21, 2002.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include their sons, Tommy (Cathy) Pope, Gallipolis, Ohio and David (Linda) Pope, Patriot, Ohio; grandchildren: Holly (Chris) Petro and Jeffrey (Shelly) Pope, both of Gallipolis, Ohio and great-grandchildren: Madison “Maddy”, Morgan and Mallory Petro, Mikayla (Riley) Roberts and Mikenzi Pope.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by son, Gerald “Jeff” Pope; brothers, Boyd, Lloyd, Charles, Roy and Vance Jeffers; sisters, Francis Smith, Rowena Jeffers, Maggie Jeffers and Garnet Spurlock.

Margaret truly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they truly adored her.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, September 16, 2022 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Ron Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in German Ridge Cemetery, Patriot, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 11:00 AM to the 1:00 PM service time.
