Donald Lee Denney

Donald Lee Denney, 83, Bidwell, Ohio passed away suddenly Friday, March 8, 2019 in his home. Donald was very active throughout his life with volunteering and memberships which include Gallia County Pride & Tobacco; French City Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director; Gallia County Senior Center and Vinton Baptist Food Pantry Volunteer and he attended Good News Baptist Church. He farmed tobacco, raised cattle, and enjoyed mowing his grass, cleaning up his farm and helping others. Most of all he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – his family was his passion.

Donald was born February 14, 1936 in Bidwell, Ohio, son of the late Paul and Mary (Moore) Denney. He married Lois Harris Denney, his wife of fifty-eight years, who preceded him in death November 17, 2012.

He leaves behind to cherish him memory two daughters: Debora (Michael Shriver) Wellington, Bidwell, Ohio and Denise (Dave) Rhoades, Mansfield, Ohio; five grandchildren: Joshua (Kassie) Wellington, Gallipolis, Ohio; Andrea (Greg Erwin) Wellington, Jackson, Ohio; Amanda (Stephen McCarty) Tobert, Ray, Ohio; David (Courtney Fields) Rhoades, Mansfield, Ohio and Dustin (Amy) Rhoades, Lexington, Ohio as well as ten great-grandchildren: Alli Tobert, Marli Mapes, Peyton Tobert, J.J. Palm Rhoades, Miley Deel, Caydence Erwin, Peyton Fields, Maddie Lucas, Daisy Erwin and Parker Fields.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1991 SR 850, Bidwell, Ohio with Pastor Morgan McKinnis officiate. Burial will follow in the Denney Family Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church Tuesday 5:00-8:00 PM.
