Dwane Rees Obituary

On Saturday, May 1, 2021 Dwane Lee Rees, 68, Rio Grande, Ohio joined his beloved wife, Connie, at home with our Lord. He was born August 3, 1952 in Rio Grande, Ohio, son of the late David and Rosena (Wiseman) Rees. He married Connie Sue Maynard Rees March 19, 1971 and was blessed with thirty-nine wonderful years prior to her passing. They shared a love most only dream of and he never got over her - ultimately passing from a broken heart.

To this union were born two children: Kellie Maynard, Rio Grande, Ohio and Douglas (Jennifer) Rees, Bidwell, Ohio; grandchildren: Daniel Rees, Chase Nance, Morgan Gibson, Constance Rees, Cheyenne Rees and Ryan Maynard. Also surviving are brothers: Dean (Amee) Rees, Bidwell, Ohio; Dwight (Christi) Rees, Rio Grande, Ohio and David (Sharon) Rees, Gallipolis, Ohio; mother-in-law, Lillian Maynard, Bidwell, Ohio; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Linda (Larry) Sturgill, Stout, Ohio; Mary (Ralph) Young, Gallipolis, Ohio; Christine Cook, Martinsburg, West Virginia; Nanci LeMaster, Port Charlotte, Florida; Patricia (Bryan) Jones, Rio Grande, Ohio; Danny (Bernie) Maynard, Venice, Florida; Greg (Marybelle) Maynard, Gallipolis, Ohio; special friends: Brenda, Roger and Bret Keefer, Point Pleasant, West Virginia; Rowdy Evans, Bidwell, Ohio and Linda Jeffers Lester, Crown City, Ohio, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A 1970 Graduate of Gallia Academy High School, Dwane worked for Meigs Coal Company for twenty-eight years making many lifelong friends prior to its closing. While at Meigs Mine, he had the opportunity to work along with his brothers David, Dean and Dwight Rees, father-in-law and brothers-in-law, Richard Maynard, Danny Maynard and Gregory Maynard. He also worked at Dean’s Pawn Shop, St. Albans, West Virginia for more than fifteen years, working beside his son and two brothers.

Dwane and Connie both shared a love for the card game, Euchre, playing many hands with lifelong friends Brenda and Roger Keefer, Linda and Ray Lester as well as Gale and Wade Leslie every Friday and Saturday night.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by Father-in-law, Richard Maynard.
