Edward E. “Deacon” Howard, 76, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 20, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late James O. Howard and Nellie (Davis) Young.
A United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Deacon was employed by Columbia Gas of Ohio for ten years before his health declined and he coached Bob Evans Midget Football League for several years. He married Winnie L. Johnson Howard, Gallipolis, who survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Crystelle (Keith) Sanders, Chesapeake, Ohio and son, Edward Eugene (Kelly) Howard, Burlington, Vermont; grandchildren: Autumn Sanders, Sgt. Nathaniel Sanders – U.S. Army, Jordan Howard, Lucreshia Howard, Moriah Howard and Candace Hart; nine great-grandchildren; brothers: Charles (Yolanda) Howard and Freddie (Judy) Howard, both of Gallipolis and sisters: Althea Howard, Gallipolis; Peggy (Lee) Combs, Rutland, Ohio and Marica (David) Stroud, Gallipolis along with his best friend, Tom Gooch, Gallipolis and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Howard and sister, Patty Armstrong.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in the Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis, Ohio.
