Emogene (Lewis) Wallace, 89, of Columbus, Ohio spread her heavenly wings on October 19, 2023 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. She was born in Gallia County, Ohio on September 18, 1934 to the late Roy Wilson Lewis and Ruby (Urwin) Lewis. She was married to the love of her life, Rondal Wallace, on June 19, 1955, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2017.
Emogene was an active member of Lincoln Baptist Church for years, and Captain of the Orange Church Bus that was used to pick up community children who she invited to church. Later in life, she attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln Village. She was a woman of the Christian faith and instilled the love of the Lord in her children, leading by example. Beginning in 1973, she enjoyed spending summers at Assateague Island, Maryland, relaxing on the sandy beach with her family. Emogene and Rondal were invested in their children and supported and encouraged them in their endeavors to excel in athletics, instilling values that gave them the foundation to become who they are today. Emogene will always be remembered as the matriarch of the Wallace Family. She was known for her kindness and heart of gold. Her love for family members never wavered.
Emogene leaves behind three daughters, Rhonda (Michael) Bush of Crown City, Ohio, Julie Korogianos of Columbus, Ohio and Dawn Wallace of Plain City, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amy Cardwell, Justin Drummond, Christopher Drummond, Caleb Korogianos, Miles Palmer and two sisters, Mary Ann Petrie and Janet Hackney. She will be deeply missed by Miles Palmer, her grandson, and main caregiver, who will always have a special place in his heart for his “Mynie Bird” who spread her wings and flew to Heaven.
She was preceded in death by daughter Sherry Lynn Wallace, siblings Samuel Lewis, Hazel Sousa, twins James Lewis and Edith Vansickle, and Roy Wilson Jr.
