Fairie O. (Ward) McCown

Fairie O. McCown, 83, Vinton, Ohio passed away Monday, November 12, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born in Kemper, Kentucky on May 8, 1940 to the late Ernest and Bertha (Varney) Ward. Fairie married Brady McCown who preceded her in death. 

Fairie is survived by sons: Brady (Penny) McCown, Jackson, Ohio and Mark (Heather) McCown, Vinton, Ohio; daughter, Melissa (Jasper, Jr.) Oliver, Vinton, Ohio; grandchildren: Brady (Terry) McCown III, Kevin (Rhonda) McCown, Jaimie (Raymond) Perry, Josh (Kristen) Oliver, John (Tiffany) Oliver, Jasper (Amber Fury) Oliver III, Samantha (Tony) Gilliland, Kylie Myers, Nicholas McCown, Braylyn Skeens, Katelyn McCown and Celia and Chris Valentine; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother, Chester (Judy) Ward, Vinton, Ohio; sisters, Clara Blackburn, South Carolina, Scilvie Blackburn and Berdie (James) Harless, both of Vinton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Fairie was preceded in death by grandson, Mikie Myers; brothers, Clyde and Reaford Ward and sisters: Fay Coon, Stella Hess and Vernie Turnmire.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Pinnacle Church, 222 North Main Street, Vinton, Ohio with Pastor Jamie Gruber officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery near Vinton. Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, Vinton, Ohio.
